Charitable Giving and Planting Trees

I donate a small percentage from every booking to charity, and plant a tree for every event I play – here's the why.

Every time somebody books me to play at their event, I do a little happy dance! Not just because I get to keep doing my dream job, but also because it means I get to help out some fantastic charities doing amazing work.

I've always been aware of my privilege – a secure roof, a supportive family, food, good health. I've taken part in charity events for as long as I can remember.

Charities I've supported over the years

Donating from every booking

This year I decided to donate a small percentage of every booking to a charity of my choice. At the end of every month I make a donation to Shelter, the UK's housing and homelessness charity.

"Home is a human right. It's our foundation and it's where we thrive. Yet, every day millions of people are being devastated by the housing emergency."

Planting trees for the planet

I also wanted to do something for future generations – so for every booking I plant a tree through Just One Tree. It only costs £1 to plant a tree, and it makes me feel a little better about the miles I drive getting to and from gigs.

If the experiment goes well, next year I'd love to up the percentage and plant two trees per booking. Let me know what charity you'd choose to support!
